One of the key dimension of an enterprise social network initiative is the search engine.

The objective of the first generation of search engine was to search (we didn’t know what and the results were not structured). Then came the second generation with the objective to find (connect people to “objects”).

The curent expectations related to the search engine is to connect people to people and their own ecosystem. If you want people to collaborate, share, co-create,… they need to be connected to each other or to knowledge of people. That’s why the search engine is key. 

The next generation search would be to engage people…
